I. nterpersonal V. accum
Once upon a time in Neverland
Made of booze and tit’s and measly bands
I unpacked my bags to stay for good
So weary of whether I could or should
As I braved the road not usually taken
I trudged on forward, “This lonely back’s ‘a breakin’.”
But weakness isn’t in my vocabulary
I’m more of a “love trumps all” visionary
Who’d choose to be where you’d least like to be?
When at home, at least you have your family
What is love with out giving?
My hearts always brimming
but my hands stay empty
With so little to give, they’re so damn empty.
To me, being a woman is being impregnated with life
At the touch of a finger
she brings comfort to your strife.
I hold the potential to share my brilliance
But who listens to love over someone with trillions?
Nobody, that’s who.
Love isn’t valued,
All they say is “fuck love, do you.”
Like there even is a you
without the love of the people who help you through.
I sure know that for a fact
I invest in each day with careful tact
My heart that’s aching
And back that’s breaking
For a little piece of paper,
Why stay? you ask, and put in the labor?
Because one day my words will change the world
They’ll have value and merit, even when limitlessly unfurled
See, the battle won’t really be quite finished
Until I make sure the mentality has already diminished
that community doesn’t matter.
“Fuck the haters” you say, as you climb up your ladder
To success?
Why cause so much stress
by doing it all alone
When to every single person you’ve shown
abrasiveness and your stone cold shoulder
All you’ll get from that
Is an unmovable boulder,
on your upwards climb to “the top,”
until you look back,
in your tracks you’ll stop.
The place where your loved ones always stay
Right there at your back, each and every day.
That’s what you fight for
Put in that “grind”
Stay up, study all night for.
That’s where you’ll eventually return to
A loving place that puts success back in view.
Because when you give love you get love
That’s the true success that they speak of
When your words begin to simply matter
You’ll finally have reached the top of your ladder.
