poem. Once upon a time in NeverlandMade of booze and tit’s and measly bandsI unpacked my bags to stay for goodSo weary of whether I could or shouldAs I braved the road not usually takenI trudged on forward, “God this back’s ‘a breakin’.”But weakness simply isn’t in my vocabularyI’m more of a “love trumps all” visionaryWho’d choose to be where you’d least like to be?When at home, at least you have your familyWhat is love with out giving? My hearts always brimmingBut my hands stay emptySo damn empty.Being a woman is being impregnated with lifeAt the touch of a fingerShe brings comfort to your strifeI hold the potential to share my brillianceBut who listens to love over someone with trillions?Nobody, that’s who.Love isn’t valued,All they say is “fuck love, do you.”Like there even is a youwithout the love of the people who help you through.I sure know that for a factI invest in each day with careful tactMy heart that’s achingAnd back that’s breakingFor a little piece of paper,Why, you ask, I put in the labor?Because one day my words will change the worldThey’ll have value and merit, even when limitlessly unfurledSee, the battle won’t really be quite finishedUntil I make sure the mentality has already diminishedThat community doesn’t matter“Fuck the haters” you say, as you climb up your ladderTo success? Why cause so much stressBy doing it all aloneWhen to every single person you’ve shownAbrasiveness and your stone cold shoulderAll you’ll get from thatIs an unmovable boulder,on your upwards climb to “the top”Until you look back, and in your tracks you’ll stop. The place where your loved ones always stayRight there at your back, each and every day. That’s what you fight forPut in that “grind”Stay up, study all night for. That’s where you’ll eventually return toA loving place that puts success back in view.Because when you give love you get loveThat’s the true success that they speak ofWhen your words begin to simply matterYou’ll finally have reached the top of your ladder.
